Idaho is having a pretty good run of sunny, 80° days. Most properties in the Boise area are irrigated by a pressurized system. That system typically comes online around April 15. I noticed the dandelions were starting to get out of hand in the yard, so with about 45 minutes available, I figured I could thin them out a bit. I grabbed my "sun hat", and weed "root breaker" tool. Near the end of my session, I noticed that my grip on the tool felt funny. I stopped to diagnose the issue, only to find a soft spot that would probably be turning into a blister.
Yep. Even though I didn't expect much to happen for such a short amount of time in the yard, I was wrong. When there's a job to do, do be complacent-- get the right gear and tools, before starting.
There is no pain, and so far, I haven't accidentally popped the blister.
Glad I'm not the only one who takes on a short task thinking it will just be a few minutes...and then an hour later, I'm wondering why I'm not wearing the right clothes or carrying the right tools for what turned out to be a much longer task. Often I'm most worried about the mess I've made (dirt on my dress clothes) but it's about safety too, as you point out. Thank you.
