It's the little things, really

OK, so the boat is out of storage, and back in Idaho.  Before the drive over, I checked the tires on the trailer.  One tire was low.  I filled it to the recommended pressure, and made my drive home, without any issue.

Fast forward a week.  The appointment to de-winterize the boat is today.  While hooking the boat trailer to the vehicle, I wanted to check the pressure on that tire, again.  The 45 lbs had drained to around 20 lbs.  I filled the tire, got the boat to the appointment, and while driving home thought, "I better just have that tire checked."

Turns out, there was a very small finishing nail in the tire, that was causing the leak.  The nail was not visually apparent.  The only way it was located was by submersing the tire in water.  Nail removed, tire repaired, and one less thing to do to get the boat in the water!

  1. I would have thought two times was enough diligence for checking tire pressure. But you were smart to check it again. A good reminder for not only long-driving trips but short ones too.
