Really - it IS the little things (Corneal Abrasion)

So I got something in my eye while getting the girls ready for school this morning.  Doc sleeps on the top bunk, right at my eye level.  As I was shaking/poking/tickling her to wake up - she flopped over and something "poofed" out of the side of the mattress and into my eye.

Didn't think much of it other than "ow" and "great, how inconvenient".  I went to the bathroom to rinse out whatever it was with saline.

But it still hurt.  I carried on with the morning routine, all the while squinting one eye shut as it watered and watered.  As I passed the exit for the eye doc on the way into the office, I briefly considered just going straight there, but thought "Naaaww, I'll give it a little while to see if it comes out."

Well, after an hour of trying to edit video and failing miserably (and man, was I miserable), I picked up the phone and went to see the doc.  She mercifully numbed my eye, put in some dye, but didn't find the culprit.  She did, however see a big, nasty scratch on my cornea, which was the source of the pain.

So now I get to wear contacts and put in re-wetting drops.  And I'll be wearing safety goggles whenever waking up kids in the top bunk!
