Driving my rental this week and I thought, I wonder if there is a way to tell which rental cars are safer than the rest.  So I googled and Hertz had an article http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1056793_tip-how-to-choose-a-safe-rental-car

If you follow the links (to www.iihs.org) you can enter your car information and it will tell you how it rates.  Turns out the vehicle I was driving, the Chevy Equinox, was rated highly in each category and an award winner of some kind. 

just got me thinking since Hertz basically lets you pick the vehicle you want now, should we have the forethought and decline lower ranked vehicles???
