I was chatting with Erika about ceiling fans and how she was putting one on her porch and it reminded me of something I'd read a while back that fans are actually a fairly effective way to keep flying insects and mosquitoes in particular at bay. With the risks of disease transmission from insect bites it seemed to be topical for home safety.

It's not a perfect defense, and there are safety concerns with fan placement, but it does reduce risk considerably.
