In the event of an accident follow this procedure:
– Move to people to a safe location
- Check for injury to self and others. Remain calm and do not admit guilt.
- Call appropriate authorities to assist and investigate the incident. Reporting incidents to the local police, sheriff or state patrol office with jurisdiction is extremely important in documenting the facts of an accident and assisting in the accident review process.

Breakdown
Getting it stopped
- Locate a safe place to pull off the road.
Fixing it ourselves
- Problems with the rental car, are not ours to fix. You should call the Rental Car 1-800 number on the paperwork or call the local office if the number was provided.
- Flat tire changes and dead batteries are best left to the professionals.
Notification
- Remember to call your manager as soon as the scene is safe and under control.
Delay
- Let everyone who is expecting you know that you will be delayed
Good reminder of what to do in case of accident while traveling on company business (and except from the "notify Weyerhaeuser", it's usable for any personal accident too). It's likely hard to keep one's cool in this situation but a simple check-list like this will surely help. Thanks Jim.
