In preparation for an overnight campout this past weekend, prior to leaving, I checked the fluids in the vehicle, and tire pressure, for the mounted tires. At some point along the way, I picked up a nail in one of my tires, which was not noticed until Saturday morning, as we were packing up to leave.
We safely secured the vehicle, blocked the tires, and raised it using the jack. After removing the spare tire from the storage location, and mounting it to the vehicle, we noticed that the spare had less air pressure than the punctured tire.
Long story short, when preparing for a road trip, take 30 extra seconds, and make sure the air pressure in the spare tire is at the recommended level.
Good 'ol hindsight...
