Late Spring, Early Summer sun exposure hazards

This weekend, we had some yard work to do.  The morning was cool, and a bit ovecast.  IN an attempt to get the work completed between thunderstorms, I put on my sun hat, eye protection, gloves, stell toed boots, and ear plugs, and went to work.  As the entire family pitched in, my wife suggested we add a few items to the list, for the day.  By the time that work was done, the sun was high in the sky, and there was no longer any cloud cover.

About four hours later, I looked down, to see that my forearms had turned a bright red, from lack of sunscreen.  Luckily, by Sunday morning the red was gone.  A reminder to apply sunscreen, along with the rest of the PPE, when planning to work outside, as the work may end up taking longer than planned.  I have placed a bottle of sunscreen next to my safety glasses, as a reminder.

  1. Good, timely reminder, Mark. Especially as we learn more about the long-term effects of too much sun exposure. Thanks! - Shannon
