Hurricane Preparedness

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/prepare/ready.php

There's nothing like a hurricane threat to make you clean up your yard and stock your pantry!  We spent a good bit of time cleaning up potential projectiles and trimming branches from our yard.  And of course, servicing the generator (we are on well water), stocking up on non-perishable goods, filling propane tanks, checking flashlights and batteries, etc.  We were all set to be without power for an extended time.  Of course that didn't happen, but we are good to go if we get hit with ice this winter!

I am particularly impressed with the advanced warnings that were out in the news.  All of our Florida people (we have many) were able to evacuate or adequately prepare in a timely manner.

We only lost power for an hour due to a downed tree.  Dorothea was simply thrilled to learn how to shuffle cards properly, and play "Crazy Eights" by lantern.
