With our families resent road trip two weekends ago, I went
out and did a complete inspection on the car. I found that having this Top 3
check list really helps. I also did this same inspection before returning home.
We got home and parked the car in the garage and didn’t
drive it until last Friday. As I started the morning out to taking my son to
school, I just jump in the driver seat and took off. About half way to his
school and warning light started flashing on the dash. It was the tire pressure
monitoring system. Turns out I picked up a screw in the tire somewhere along
the way home. I guess the moral of this story is to do a Post-Drive inspection on
your car once you get home from a long road trip. Also I would say do a Pre-driving inspection on
your car every time you get ready to drive it. This can just be a visual check
as you walk around your car, looking for anything that doesn’t seem right. A
five minute inspection can save you a lot of heart ache down the road.
Like you, I'm much more likely to do a pre-trip inspection than a post-trip one. But you've made a case for both. Thank you!
