Jobsite/Customer Site Safety
While I was at the 84 Lumber site in Danville, IN a couple of weeks ago I snapped this photo as I was walking from their parking lot to their new NextPhase EasyPack saw line, which is installed in the back of thier yard. As most of us have been trained - I was making sure I was walking safely, constantly looking around to see what risks may be present. At the time I took the photo - I was focused primarily on the banding cart that was sitting in an open part of the parking lot (shown circled in the upper left in the photo). My primary objective with this photo though was to capture the moment and the scene - planning to look at it later myself, and with this group to see what else may have been a hazard that I hadn't noticed at the time. When I looked back at the photo before posting it - I found three additional areas:
1, 2.) In the lower left of the picture I've circled two areas where larger pieces of debris were laying on the ground - if I'm focused somewhere else, these could be trip hazards.
3.) the product being stored to the middle right of the photo was staged very haphazardly - ultimately I had no need to be in that area, however with the way the materials were staged there really wasn't a way to get near that product without walking over dunnage or other pieces of product. In addition several of the 'stacks' werent vertical or banded and were at risk of tipping.
What else do you see that I didn't?
Whether you're at a customer site, or doing something personally...and after you've done your RADAR, I encourage you to snap a photo of the scene and share it with this group. Lets look together to see what others might find that we didn't!
