- Wiping down surfaces to reduce dust and germs left of surfaces.
- Getting rid of clutter.
- As always, rechecking ergo settings for unintended changes in equipment settings and locations.
- I challenge you to add a comment to this post if you think some additional items that would be good to cleanup now for health and safety reasons.
Using personal shredders:
During
my end -of -year office cleanup I was shredding some personal documents
when I realized I was breaking some known safety rules for shredder usage. At least some that are known for the
office-size shredders.
I stopped and mentally reset. Then reminded
myself of the shredder
training I had while in the Charlotte office.
There was at least 3 things I could apply to what I was doing.
1.
Not put more than the recommended # of pages in at a time. 6 for my personal shredder. This keep the shredder from getting stuck in
the On position even if you turn the power to off.
2.
Watch hand placement when clearing the shredder of paper partially expelled
from the shredder and in the bin.
3.
When shredding a lot of papers at a time watch how hot the machine gets. If needed, take breaks and allow the machine
to cool.
The above in another example of in-office training that can be applied the remote office settings.
In the quiet time between the holidays, I cleared out some of the boxes under my desk so I had more space to shelter in case of earthquake. Had the added benefit of making my space nicer to enjoy. Plus, provides easier movement of my legs/chair for better ergonomics. A win all around!
ReplyDeleteTime to wipe down the Keyboard and Blow out the crumbs. Also did you know that for Clorox wipes to be effective the surface has to be wet for 2 minutes. I simple wipe is not enough. You should use micro fiber and water for better results without chemicals.
