I suspect a lot of us work in offices with windows and enjoy a certain amount of sunlight. This time of the year sunlight is getting shorter and the amount of light streaming into our offices changes more radically. That is it's dark when I login, the sun comes up, the sun goes down and it's dark when I log out for the day. We've discussed office lighting and to some extent controlling the brightness of your monitors, that harsh lighting is hard on your eyes. Over time it can lead to eyes strain and frequent headaches. Like most people, I set the color tone and brightness of my monitors and leave it, never changing with the lighting condition throughout the year.
Today I found an application that changes the color tones and brightness based on your location and the date/time. When it's dark it's more of a "warm" tone where the brightness is dimmed and the color tone is more monotone. When the sun hit it's zenith, the monitors are at their normal setting. I'm going to give this a try as the days get shorter and see if my eyes feels better.
