Winter is Coming

It’s that time of year again…for most of us anyway.  Before it gets too much further into the season, it is important to winterize your home.  Below is a link with some good tips.  Additional items that might get overlooked include turning off water valves to outdoor spigots or sprinklers, investing in thermal-rated curtains, cleaning out gutters (especially after all the leaves have fallen), stocking up on salt melt, and testing (and refueling) back-up generators.  For your car, make sure to replenish window wiper fluid with a de-icing variety and make sure to regularly refill your gas tank.  Most mechanics recommend keeping it above a quarter tank but I usually keep it at least half full in case of an emergency.
