Complacency in the food prep area

So there I was, trying to make a lunch between calls...

As I was grating some cheese, to melt over my grilled chicken, for a sandwich.  In my haste to shred the cheese, before the meat cooled too much, I was complacent in the proximity of my thumb knuckle, to the cheese grater.

The result was a mix of thumb knuckle and cheese.  Nothing that a quick cleanse and band-aid won't fix!

However, a reminder to be sure to take time, and use tools in the appropriate and intended manner.

Luckily, I should be fully healed without having to worry about lost time for my 2015 Idaho Hunt-Fish combo (no two pole permit for me).

  1. I also can become complacent in the kitchen while preparing food. I think I can use my sleeve ends to pull hot things from the oven (much better to use a pot holder), consider reaching in too far into a soup can (why get any closer to the hazardous edge) and reach too high for things on the top shelf (when my step stool is so handy). Thanks for the reminder about the hazards of cheese graters, which caused me to think about my own short cuts in the kitchen.

  2. I too have had problems preparing food. Careful of the new Kitchen Knives. I found out that handling a sharp knives was quite different from dull one. My bad habits using a dull knife caused me cut myself when using a new sharp one. Lesson:. Take some time to sharpen your knives.
