Part of winter safety for a lot of us involves driving in poorer conditions. Allow for longer commute times, and increase your "bubble of safety". Stock a few extra items in your trunk, should you have an accident, or go off the road to ensure you can stay warm and have a snack or two (a coat with Bob pockets comes in handy).
In addition, driving in the winter requires more focus and attention than in the summer, so limit distractions.
