Our family loves to swim when it's hot out.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children and adolescents in the United States.
• Make sure all children learn to swim
• Never leave a child unattended around water—this includes bathtubs, buckets, puddles and pools
• Install a phone or keep a cordless phone by the pool in case of emergency
• Learn CPR and insist all babysitters and caregivers do the same
• Put up a pool fence that is at least five feet high that cannot be climbed over, have a self-closing and self-locking gate and completely surround the pool
• Keep toys away from the pool and bathtub when not in use
• If a child is missing, check the pool and bathtub first
True. Our family enjoys being around the water as well. There will be at least one trip to a water park this summer.
ReplyDeleteThere have been several articles published to the internet recently, warning of the hazards of swimming in public pools (or waterparks). Chlorine can only do so much, and over-exposure also has it's implications and inferences (not the Estima kind!).
