Safety tip for those that don’t have a home phone, but have young children.

My house hold doesn’t have a home phone, my wife and I both have cell phones.  So that brought up the question what if something happened to one of us, when we were at home with the kid and the other wasn’t home?  Would our oldest son know how to call for help?   We sat down with him, and showed him how to us my phone to make an emergency call. (With today’s technology doing this is easier than you would think. Most new smart phones have an emergency button. When pushed it connects with the area local 911 dispatch. This feature works whether the phone is lock or password protected.)     Then we showed him how to do the same thing on my wife’s phone. Being that her phone was a older than mine. We should him how to dial 911on it.
A few months ago my wife got a new cell phone that had the same emergency button as mine, my son was able show us how make emergency calls with no help from either one of us. Every few months we make him show us what to do in case of an emergency.
