Food For Thought!!
Just a little health tip I thought I would add because I found it very surprising!
The quote below is from an article I read about the crazy amounts of sugar we eat everyday and don't even realize it!
"American adults eat 22 teaspoons of sugar a day; teens eat 34 teaspoons"
"...most women should be getting no more than 6 teaspoons a day, or 100 calories, of added sugar — the sweeteners and syrups that are added to foods during processing, preparation or at the table. For most men, the recommended limit is 9 teaspoons, or 150 calories, the heart group says.
The guidelines do not apply to naturally occurring sugars like those found in fruit, vegetables or dairy products."
I figured out that I almost exhaust my reccomended daily allowance by 9am just by drinking my favorite Chia Tea latte every morning!
I am challenging myself to keep track of how much sugar I am actually consuming in each day for maybe the next week. I challenge you to do the same!! At least if you are aware how much sugar is in your food you can start making better choices about what to eat.
FYI... 1 teaspoon of sugar = approx. 4 grams of sugar
